A formaldehyde sterilization indicator is a colour-changing indicator system used to help visually assess exposure to a sterilization process. It produces a specific colour change under suitable process conditions, helping distinguish process exposure visually.
Formaldehyde indicator ink is developed to respond to target sterilization conditions. Exposure to process parameters produces an observable colour change in the ink.
Colour change performance is evaluated in relation to process conditions, application surface, printing parameters and formulation properties.
Indicator inks can be developed for different medical packaging surfaces depending on the intended use and printing system.
Before application, the following are assessed:
Packaging material
Surface characteristics
Printing method
Printing parameters
Target sterilization process
Suitable formulation work is then carried out.
SteriInk indicator ink solutions can be developed for flexographic printing applications.
Printing performance is evaluated according to the anilox, printing plate, substrate and manufacturing conditions. Application-specific formulation and performance studies can be carried out as needed.
