Process conditions, printing systems and substrate properties vary between applications. A standard indicator ink may therefore not meet every application’s requirements.
With over 20 years of R&D experience, SteriInk evaluates the sterilization process, application substrate, printing method, target colour change and production conditions together. We use the resulting technical data to develop application-specific formulations.
In our work on steam, ethylene oxide (EO), hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂), formaldehyde and plasma sterilization processes, we assess critical parameters including the target colour change, print performance, substrate compatibility and stability.
Our aim goes beyond developing an ink: we seek controlled, consistent solutions that can be evaluated under real application conditions.
1. Technical Requirements Analysis
We define the sterilization process, substrate, printing method, production conditions and target colour change.
2. Formulation Development
Laboratory work is carried out on a suitable indicator ink formulation based on the technical requirements.
3. Sample & Printing Tests
The formulation is applied to a suitable substrate to assess print performance, colour change and substrate compatibility.
4. Performance & Stability Assessment
The formulation’s behaviour and stability under the target process conditions are evaluated.
5. Optimisation & Production Transfer
Improvements are made based on test results, and the formulation is adapted to the customer’s production process.
Yes. Custom formulations can be developed by evaluating the sterilization process, printing method, substrate, production conditions and target colour change.
Application requirements for steam, ethylene oxide (EO), hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂), formaldehyde and plasma processes can be evaluated.
Yes. Formulation studies can take account of the properties of medical kraft, suitable film structures, Tyvek® and other suitable printing substrates.
The target initial and final colours can be assessed technically, followed by R&D work on a suitable formulation and colour change.
